Barcelona Travels, day one..

Finally, it was becoming a reality! Touchdown at Barcelona airport was smooth and exciting. Even more so as we found out it wasn’t raining like what the weather channel said. We headed to our apartment with a pre booked taxi from Suntransfers. ( mentioned in the blog I follow for Barcelona tips, called Barcelona top travel tips ) They were there waiting for us even when our flight was a hour late.

We drove through the city wondering which city in Europe does Barcelona look like and we couldn’t come to a conclusion. Our taxi driver gave us some insight about the area we were staying in. We choose to stay in Eixample area,  next to Paseo de Gràcia.
We scored on our rental apartment ( Bas Apartments) as that was the main highlight for our kids for Barcelona. The shower, balcony and kitchen was there main area of happiness. The receptionist gave us a 30 min tour of our around 400 sq ft apartment. My kids found that quite amusing while I realized it was worth listening to everything she mentioned as I would have wasted lot of time trying to figure things out in the apartment.

I looked at my places to eat research for the fist night and couldn’t wait to try them! First up was Tapa24, a stones throw away from our apartment and delicious tapas which are slightly over priced. But, just have their Russian salad and ham crocheted with their draft beer! It’s worth every penny!

After walking around trying to find Plaça de Catalunya for 20 mins, because my husband refused to ask anyone for directions. We finally, got there! And it was maybe just 5 mins walk from the apartment. None of us were impressed by that Plaza so we decided to window shop ‘till it was time to go for dinner and try my next researched place! La Paradeta, wow this place is amazing! You pick your fresh seafood and then pick your drink and then go order it either grilled or fried! We picked large shrimps, fish, calamari and a slice of fresh tuna. It’s paid according to the weight of the seafood. They give you bread to mop up the juices and couple sauces( garlic, tomato and there was this green sauce, which you need to ask at where you pick your cooked food from).
The concept is simple and the food couldn’t be more fresh and delicious.

First evening couldn’t have gone better food wise! Like my husband says that this trip is nothing but a expensive food trip!
We were super jet lagged the first night. Kids woke up at 1:30 am to have breakfast. And we were quite glad that we got all the groceries from nearby super market last night. After, French toasts and milk we decided to go back to sleep which lasted till 4 am!
Time to make another round of breakfast as the kids were still hungry.
Hope, we can last this day with all the activities planned for today…

Proof read by my son and he says it should be worth every euro not penny.. ha ha ha
