Twenty seems like a big number…

It’s been almost four weeks already since we came back from Spain! I didn’t feel like blogging about Seville as it brings memories of the lovely time we had there and I miss Seville! Actually, I miss being in Spain…

It’s hard for me to get back to reality every time I come back from our vacations. Every time, I feel we should have spent a week more..

We had a relaxing trip from Granada to Seville in Alsa Supra bus, as all of us got to catch-up on our sleep.  We were all ready to head out for lunch after dropping our luggage and loading the washing machine with our dirty clothes!

Seville was beautiful, we all really loved this city! We stayed at the old city center in a small little apartment walking distance to all the main attractions. It was a short walk three to four minutes to the apartment as it is on a alley with no car access. Our Airbnb host was very helpful with details about good restaurants and city sights!

We walked to get lunch at Bodega Santa Cruz(Las Columnas) and on the way had to stop for pizzas for kids as they were in no mood to eat anything else. We enjoyed Pringá Montadito, a small sandwich with pulled pork style filling in Bodega Santa Cruz. It was delicious. We ordered couple more tapas, which were all quite good. It’s a very popular place and was quite crowed. So just squeeze in and go to the front of the people and order your tapas, they were rather helpful letting me go through to order. We choose to take them outside to the standing tables and enjoyed with the local beer.

With a food tour and flamenco show planned for the evening, we choose to go back and relax for sometime.  It was a great decision as it poured for almost a hour after we had reached the apartment.  Getting ready for the food tour was not what the kids wanted as they were watching the Disney channel in Spanish, which seemed quite entertaining to them. After, a round of Jello and chocolate milk the kids finally decided they had enough energy to go out and explore, sometimes sugar helps motivate them.

Tapas & Flamenco Tour by Devour, was one of the best tours we booked. We had lots of  traditional as well as modern tapas with beer, cava and Spanish wines! We made sure we went to couple of the places later during our stay in Seville as we loved everything we tried in the food tour! The mini lesson about flamengo from our guide, before our show was very helpful to understand the dance! It was a amazing performance. After, the flamenco we went for our dinner with the tour, which was our final restaurant of the tour. Everything single thing on the menu was better than the one we tired before. They also, got additional food for the kids which they liked. The tour guide, took us around the back streets and beautiful alleys back to a common place which was close to all!  It was a great day! I would highly recommend this tour.

Waking up to a raining day again, we were a little disappointed. We went down to get coffee and tomato toast at a bakery below our apartment on our anniversary day as the kids slept in. Twenty years seems liked a big number but I have no idea how those years went by..

We had a private guide booked to show us around the Real Alcázar, Cathedral and Old Seville! We were glad to stay in the morning as it was pouring outside. Luckily, the sun was out by the time we were ready to head out for our tour. The kids enjoyed a morning in and pizza for lunch, which according to them was the real meaning of spring break!

Real Alcázar was beautiful and worth visiting. We enjoyed the Cathedral more though, kids had fun running up and down the tower and listening about the Columbus. The guide took us around the Santa Cruz area after we toured the Cathedral and Real Alcázar.  It was a good tour to take specially if you don’t have much time on hand.

We choose to visit Triana or the Gypsy Quarter on the other side of the river after our tour! The walk there was beautiful and we were getting hungry by now. The Triana food market, Mercado de Triana, is where we decided to eat and we weren’t disappointed. We choose the seafood tapas and beer for our late lunch! Finally, we were eating like Spanish people …late lunches!

After a quick break for rest at our apartment we headed to Plaza de Espana. It is worth visiting if you have enough time to explore. The tile work is something I really enjoyed at that plaza. On our way there we stopped by this amazing bar, El Rinconcillo which is supposed to be one of the oldest bar in town. We had couple tapas and beer. It was our anniversary and all I wanted to do was to try tapas at different places I had researched. I had made reservations at Ispal for our special anniversary dinner. It was one place my husband didn’t want to be as he rather have food at a hole in the wall places then go to any kind of fancy places. We had a eight course Seville menu and some of courses were actually good! Given a choice again I would rather eat at El Rinconcillo! It was a day well spent with familly and we were very happy to celebrate our 20th in Seville.

Trying to wake the kids was quite a task, as the previous night we all slept around midnight. But, we were excited to go to the White Villages and Ronda tour. Another, great decision, specially if you have limited to see Spain. Me and my husband would have loved to spend couple days exploring Malaga, Spain! It’s was a picturesque drive with beautiful small white villages strewn around in the mountains. My kids loved Ronda as they could hike down the bridge. I choose not too as I wanted to explore the town more. The tour looks long but it’s not tiring at all. Would have love to go near the coast but there’s always a next time, or so I believe!

That final night in Seville,  we ate at La Brunilda, was amazing! Our Airbnb host had recommended that place as it was his favorite place and we were so happy that we made it there. Make sure to make reservations there before hand. The food was so good, and writing this blog I wish it was possible to head back there.

Our trip to Seville was wonderful as I had imagined it to be and we can’t wait to return to this city as we loved everything about it, from history to culture to food! Specially, the food…
